Murray Bridge Community Fishing Club formed after competition
The inaugurual Brian Pilmore Classic, held at Sturt Reserve, has brought together a community of fishers.

A fishing competition held at Murray Bridge’s Sturt Reserve has proved to be an outstanding success.
Kevin Box, of Murray Bridge, took home the top prize last Tuesday at the Brian Pilmore Classic, at the barbecue shelter next to the community club.
Mr Box’s incredible performance earned him the highest score of the day, making him the first to claim the prestigious perpetual Brian Pilmore Classic fishing trophy.
The trophy will be permanently displayed in the foyer of competition sponsor Genuine Support Services Australia’s office at 6 Third Street, Murray Bridge.
Participants had a fantastic day of fishing, reeling in a variety of species, including the customary carp and four very impressive callop which were safely released back into the river.
BCF Murray Bridge generously donated prizes for the event.
Alongside the trophy presentations, there were more than 20 extremely excited winners in a raffle, who took home some fantastic prizes.

The success of the competition has inspired the launch of a new fishing club, the Murray Bridge Community Fishing Club.
It will be spearheaded by facilitators Barry Williams and Brian Pilmore, both of Murray Bridge, with the support of BCF Murray Bridge and GSSA.
Future fishing and outdoor adventures began with an initial club meeting held this Tuesday at the Sturt Reserve wharf shelter.
This allowed interested anglers to discuss their vision for the club and future activities, including fishing and outdoor activities in the Murraylands, south coast, the Coorong and beyond.
The club will also offer evening workshops on fishing techniques, knot-tying and general camping skills.
The next catch-up of the Murray Bridge Community Fishing Club will be on Tuesday, February 4 at Woodlane Reserve from 10.30am to 2.30pm and onwards.
