Murray Bridge childcare centre will be among 40 to close around Australia
World of Learning, on Clara Street, will have its operations suspended after a decision by its owners, G8 Education.
Families will have to make alternative arrangements for their children, and educators will be left looking for new jobs, when a Murray Bridge childcare centre shuts its doors.
National service provider G8 Education announced on Wednesday that it would close 40 of its childcare centres around Australia.
Among those listed was World of Learning, on Clara Street.
CEO Pejman Okhovat blamed a challenging operating environment within the industry.
“We have a responsibility to operate sustainably and responsibly, in a way that delivers the best possible outcomes for families and supports children to grow, thrive and learn in safe and supportive environments,” he said in a statement.
“Our immediate focus remains on supporting families to transition to one of our nearby centres and redeploying team members, where possible.”
G8 Education also operates Community Kids, on Swanport Road.
There has been a shortage of childcare places available in Murray Bridge in recent years, though at least two new services have opened since Murray Bridge News examined the issue in depth in 2023.
