The members of local band Exit Plan hope to win their way into the music industry through Triple J’s Unearthed High competition.

Guitarist Jayden Waterman, front man Seth Clark, drummer Cooper Clark and bassist Nick Tarasenko are the four musicians that make up Exit Plan.

It’s the second year the band have entered Unearthed High’s competition: a quest for Australia’s next big high school artist.

The four boys met through high school and local youth hub the Station.

As brothers, Seth and Cooper played together for more than nine years before the group properly formed in 2022.

“When Jayden joined in 2023, we really started giving it a crack … before that we were just playing covers in pubs,” Seth said.

All four band members contributed and collaborated at rehearsal to make their original music, Jayden said.

Exit Plan’s genre could almost be defined as “Murray Bridge indie rock”, Seth said.

“We all kind of grab small sections of albums we listen to and just kind of bundle them all up,” Nick added.

Their goal is ultimately fame, glory and playing at Wembley Stadium.

But for now, their realistic aim is to play interstate shows by the end of the year.

“Earlier this year was the first time we ever had people sing our lyrics back to us,” Jayden said.

The boys are playing live on Three D Radio on Wednesday of this week and they’ll be releasing a single at Ancient World on Hindley Street, Adelaide this Friday.

The boys have entered three original songs into the competition: Long SleeveViolent Sleep and All Gone.
