Multi-million-dollar cocaine bust made at Tailem Bend

Police have arrested a man after allegedly finding five kilograms of cocaine in his car during a traffic stop at Tailem Bend.
Officers pulled the car over at 6pm on Thursday and allegedly the illicit drugs vacuum-packed into five blocks.
The quantity would have been enough for about 5000 street deals, according to SA Police, and worth around $2 million.
They arrested and charged the car’s driver, a 33-year-old from Mawson Lakes.
Detectives then searched his home, where they allegedly found more evidence of his involvement in a commercial drug trafficking operation.
The man was due to face Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday.
If convicted, he could face a fine of up to $1 million and/or imprisonment for life.

Out-of-control burn-offs pose a danger
Meanwhile, police have repeated a recent call for locals to be prepared for a dangerous fire season after two burn-offs got out of control over the weekend.
On Saturday, police fined a Waratah Avenue resident for allegedly burning off weeds without a permit, which is required within town limits.
The Metropolitan Fire Service needed to come and put the fire out after it got out of hand.
On Sunday, it was a rubbish fire on Martin Road, Murray Bridge South that escaped and burnt five hectares of bushland before it could be contained.
Country Fire Service and farm firefighting units were all involved in the fight.
Police fined a resident for not taking proper precautions.
They urged everyone to check fire danger ratings and weather conditions before burning off.

P-plater clocked at 165km/h
Police have reported a P-plater who was allegedly picked up doing 165 kilometres per hour on Reedy Creek Road at Tepko on Sunday.
The 19-year-old man from Highbury will face an aggravated speeding charge at Murray Bridge Magistrates Court.
Officers impounded his vehicle for 28 days and banned him from driving for six months.
He was also allegedly driving without displaying his P plates.
Motorcyclist allegedly fled police
A 39-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly failing to stop for police at Monarto South on Tuesday night.
Police received a report of a vehicle hooning around the area around 11.15pm, and spotted a Kawasaki motorbike allegedly speeding along Brinkley Road towards Murray Bridge.
They indicated that the rider should pull over near Usher Road, but he allegedly refused to do so and sped off.
The patrol followed, and officers later found the bike outside a house at White Hill.
A check revealed that the man had been disqualified from driving, and that the bike was unregistered and uninsured.
They arrested the rider and granted him bail ahead of a court appearance, but impounded the bike for 28 days.
Disqualified for refusing to comply
Finally, a 36-year-old Waikerie man has disqualified from driving for 12 months after allegedly failing to submit to a police breath test.
Officers had stopped him on on Swanport Road, Murray Bridge on Saturday.
He, too will face court in Murray Bridge.
