Arrest made after Murray Bridge East hit-and-run
Plus a quad bike is reported stolen at Tailem Bend, two teenagers are arrested over a car theft and police post speed cameras around the Murraylands.
Police have arrested a driver over a hit-and-run crash which left a motorcyclist badly hurt on Sunday.
A silver car and a motorbike reportedly collided at the intersection of the Old Princes Highway and Hein Road, Murray Bridge East around 7pm.
The car’s driver allegedly fled the scene.
The bike’s rider, a 45-year-old local man, was taken by ambulance to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.
The intersection was closed for several hours while crash investigators looked for clues.
On Tuesday, police arrested a 44-year-old Murray Bridge woman in relation to the crash and charged her with causing injury by dangerous driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
She was granted bail and will appear at Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on October 4.

Quad bike stolen at Tailem Bend

It was stolen from a shed on a vacant property on Westbrook Road, Tailem Bend sometime between July 24 and August 8.
The blue 1985 Yamaha quad bike did not have numberplates attached at the time.

Teenagers arrested for car theft
Police have arrested a 17-year-old and a 14-year-old who allegedly led police on a chase through Murray Bridge in a stolen car last week.
A patrol spotted the Toyota Kluger on Adelaide Road around 2am on Wednesday.
It had been stolen from a Murray Bridge address a short time earlier.
Officers attempted to stop it; it eventually stopped about 300 metres down the road, and the teenaged boys allegedly jumped out and ran off.
After calling for reinforcements from Mount Barker, plus a dog squad and a helicopter, police found the boys nearby.
Each was charged with illegal use of a vehicle and driving offences for that night’s episode; plus trespassing, theft, breach of bail and more driving offences for which they had already been wanted.
The youths were denied bail and faced Adelaide Youth Court on Thursday.
Two done for traffic offences
Two motorists have been pinged for alleged traffic offences in the Murray Bridge district in the past week.
A 66-year-old Beverly man who was allegedly detected doing 150 kilometres per hour in a 100 zone, on Langhorne Creek Road at Mulgundawa on Sunday, was fined $1939 and given nine demerit points.
A 50-year-old Murray Bridge woman was reported for allegedly driving while disqualified after being pulled over on Christian Road on Monday.
Watch out for speed cameras
Take extra care on roads around the Murraylands this week – police speed cameras will be keeping an eye on you.
Officers will set up at a number of locations, including:
- Murray Bridge: Adelaide Road, Hill Street, Hindmarsh Road, Mannum Road, Maurice Road, Old Swanport Road, South Eastern Freeway, Standen Street, Swanport Road
- Murray Bridge East: Old Princes Highway
- Mypolonga: Dean Jaensch Road
- Tailem Bend: Dukes Highway, Mallee Highway, Princes Highway
- White Hill: South Eastern Freeway
More cameras will be in operation at Mannum and down the Dukes Highway; plus the fixed cameras on the freeway at Callington and at the two main traffic lights on Adelaide Road, Murray Bridge will remain in operation as usual.
Speeding fines start at $180 for exceeding the limit by less than 10 kilometres per hour, and go up from there.
