Lauren Jacobs, Kayla Trevorrow, Jaxon McKenzie and Aya Lloyd are about to take part in the race of a lifetime.

Each will travel to Darwin later this month for the National Deadly Fun Run Championships later this month after being named the Murraylands' community champions.

The four Aboriginal runners were chosen based on their hard work, improvement and consistency over the past year.

That period included both in-person events held at Sturt Reserve and Raukkan, as well as virtual running groups and events during 2020.

Series organisers described Jacobs as a role model for healthy living who had consistently participated in fun runs since 2013; and Trevorrow as a committed runner who had exceeded her own expectations.

Jaxon and Aya were devoted and enthusiastic fun runners who had attended every event in 2021 and shown determination, persistence, positive attitudes and a go-getter spirit.

The community champions will run as a team in a community relay run in Darwin, and will also compete as individuals in the local City 2 Surf fun run.

This will be the eighth year a team from the Murraylands has taken part.
