Meet the new management team at Murray Bridge Toyota

The Gilbert family name has been associated with great service to car buyers and owners for more than 100 years – now Tom Gilbert is here in the Murraylands.

The Gilbert name has been trusted in automotive circles for five generations – now Tom Gilbert hopes to show you why.

The new dealer principal took over at Murray Bridge Toyota in March, having moved over from the Adelaide Hills.

However, his ancestors trace their roots all the way back to a little bike shop at Milang which Stephen Gilbert established in the late 19th century.

In time the family moved to Strathalbyn; they took on General Motors dealerships there and in Mount Barker in 1926, and a Toyota dealership in 1985.

Now that Murray Bridge’s Toyota, Subaru and Isuzu Ute dealership has joined the group, Tom hopes to show why customers have stuck by the family for more than a century.

“We’ve built a reputation for looking after people, keeping our promises and training a lot of apprentices,” he said.

“My dad always said ‘without integrity, you’ve got nothing’.

“We’re not perfect, but that doesn’t stop us from trying.”

When you visit Murray Bridge Toyota, you can expect to be greeted with a smile, courtesy and respect.

Of course, you will also find a comprehensive range of new and pre-owned vehicles.

Toyota remains Australia’s most popular and trusted car brand, according to the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries.

Tom said it was the company’s upcoming lineup of vehicles – and the “fantastic” staff already on site – that had convinced he and his wife Sally to expand into Murray Bridge.

“We’re really lucky to have a wonderful team of local people who are professional, conscientious, and put the customer at the front of everything we do,” he said.

“I’m grateful for the way the Murray Bridge community has accepted us.

“I think (locals) were as excited by the change as we were.”

Tom hopes to ensure Murray Bridge Toyota is an employer of choice in the Murraylands, too, and to train the next generation of automotive workers in the workshop out the back.
