Andrew Mitchard
Managing director Andrew started his career in tax and personal injury law, but now heads Johnston Withers’ commercial and property team. His area of expertise is commercial law and litigation: debt documentation and recovery, commercial property structuring issues, renewable energy projects, high-value transfers and commercial leasing. His clients value his commercial nous, easy manner, practical approach and ability to give comprehensive advice.
“My work mainly revolves around the buying and selling of commercial properties and businesses, general commercial advice, and assisting farmers with farm succession planning,” he says. For example, he recently helped a retiring farming couple transfer their land, equipment and stock to their children, while reducing their liabilities for income tax and stamp duty.

Many of her local clients are farmers with whom she works on succession planning. “I grew up in the country and am from a farming family,”she says.“This provides me with a deep understanding of the considerations and priorities of farming families when preparing their wills and preparing to transition away from a working role on the farm for the next generation.”

Fiona Woolfitt
Fiona is a registered conveyancer who has been with Johnston Withers Lawyers since 2016. She grew up in the Murraylands, returned to the region with her young family in 2013, and has first-hand knowledge of the complexity of farming property transactions.
“One of my first conveyancing jobs after I returned to the workforce was a lovely elderly couple moving from out of town into Murray Bridge,” she says. “We were looking after their sale and they had a simultaneous purchase. This is a very stressful time for anyone, and it involved much back and forward to get both settlements across the line.”
