After a lifetime spent serving farmers, businesses and home improvers around the Murraylands, Mark Kluske is just about ready to take a step back.

The business he has built over the past 18 years, Bridge Bearings and Bolts, he is putting up for sale.

“I’m looking for a change in lifestyle,” he said.

He would miss the challenge of finding obscure parts for people, he said.

“Somebody will come in and say they want something crazy and I’ll say ‘I’ll find it’,” he said.

“I’ve got a small farm myself, I know what farmers go through, so that helps.”

Mr Kluske is offering the business for only the cost of the stock it has on hand – a bargain if ever there was one.

Bridge Bearings and Bolts is in a great position, financially speaking, with a broad and established customer base in a fast-growing community.

As well as bearings and bolts, the business is now a retailer and service hub for all sorts of agricultural and automotive parts, including chains, sprockets, batteries and filters; hand tools; plus lawnmowers and other equipment from quality brands including Honda and Husqvarna.

As a member of the HBT buying group, Bridge Bearings and Bolts has access to a wide range of products at competitive prices; and as an agent for leading distributor CBC Australia, it stocks items of the highest quality.

“I had to build it all from scratch,” Mr Kluske said.

“You can walk in and start making money.”

Mr Kluske will retain ownership of the building and rent it back to the business’ new owner – unless you want to make an offer on that, too.

If not, he’ll shout you six months’ free rent.

As a buyer, you needn’t have much mechanical experience – after all, Bridge Bearings and Bolts’ three full-time staff and one part-timer will all stay on.

But you might have some experience in running a business, or be keen to take on the challenge.

There’s potential to grow the business further, too, by expanding its online offering.
