Mannum man hurt in Adelaide Hills truck crash

A Mannum man has been hospitalised after crashing a truck he was driving in the Adelaide Hills on Monday.

Emergency services were called out to Pocock Road at Jupiter Creek, southwest of Echunga, around 11.45am after reports a garbage truck had collided with a tree.

The driver, a 63-year-old man, was trapped in the cab and had to be freed by Country Fire Service crews.

He was then transported by helicopter to hospital in Adelaide.

In a statement, SA Police said his injuries were not considered life-threatening “at this time”.

Four drivers stung on local roads

Meanwhile, police have penalised four motorists on Murraylands roads over the weekend:

• A 78-year-old Tailem Bend man who crashed his car into a pedestrian barrier on Swanport Road, Murray Bridge on Saturday; he was arrested, charged with offences including driving without due care and driving while disqualified, and had his car impounded for 28 days
• A 79-year-old Tailem Bend man found asleep in the driver’s seat of his car on the Princes Highway on Saturday, and who allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.138, nearly three times the legal limit; he had his licence suspended for six months and his car impounded for 28 days
• A 60-year-old Brompton man who allegedly tested positive for illicit drugs on Adelaide Road, Murray Bridge on Monday; he lost his licence for three months and may face further penalty
• A 35-year-old Myponga man who also allegedly tested positive for cannabis while driving on Best Street, Murray Bridge on Monday; he, too, lost his licence for three months
