Plus police investigate a suspicious house fire and report three locals for drink and drug driving.

Do you recognise this piece of jewellery or this set of 1982 Australian coins?

They were among items recovered by police after being found by a member of the public on Sixth Street, Murray Bridge on Wednesday morning.

Police advised that no such items had been reported stolen.

Anyone who recognises the items should visit the Murray Bridge police station, or contact officers on 8535 6020, and be prepared to provide proof of ownership.

The station is open from 9am-5pm on weekdays and 9am-3.30pm on weekends.

House fire looks suspicious, investigators rule

Meanwhile, police are investigating a house fire in Murray Bridge which broke out under suspicious circumstances on Monday.

The fire was reported just before 3am at a cottage on Hawke Road, behind Johnstone Park.

Metropolitan Fire Service personnel were able to put it out before it caused too much damage.

Crime scene investigators later determined that it had been deliberately lit.

Two drivers done for drinking, one for drugs

Finally, three local drivers have been picked up for traffic offences over the weekend:

  • A 38-year-old Murray Bridge man allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.271, more than five times the legal limit, after being stopped on Bridge Street on Saturday; he was reported, lost his licence for 12 months and his vehicle for 28 days, and will face court
  • A 21-year-old Murray Bridge P-plater allegedly blew 0.086 on Murray Cods Drive, at Sturt Reserve, on Friday; he was reported, lost his licence for six months and his vehicle for 28 days, and will have a date in court
  • A 37-year-old Mannum woman was also reported over the weekend for allegedly returning a positive test for illicit drugs while behind the wheel; she lost her licence for three months and may face further penalty, pending analysis of her drug test
