Lock it or lose it, police warn after Murray Bridge car break-ins
Murray Mallee police have urged people to take basic security precautions after a string of thefts.
Police are warning Murray Bridge residents to lock their cars and keep valuables out of sight after a spate of thefts this week.
More than 10 thefts from parked cars were reported over Tuesday and Wednesday.
Thieves targeted Roper Road on Tuesday night and Joy Crescent, Brinkley Road and Bradley Court the next night.
Laptop computers and wallets were among the items stolen.
Sergeant Karen Newman, from SA Policeâs local crime prevention unit, urged everyone to take basic precautions to prevent theft:
- Lock vehicle doors
- Remove keys and other valuables
- Park in a well-lit area or locked garage
She also encouraged people to contact police if they observed any suspicious behaviour.
âIf you see anyone in an area trying car doors, ring 131 444 so we can get a timely response,â she said.
âIf we know whoâs getting out and about, it gives us an opportunity to let our patrols know to keep an eye out for them.â
