Life Through the Lens: See the unexpected

A couple of weeks ago I told about the trip Ruth and I did through the ranges of the Mount Remarkable National park with some CFS volunteers of the area.

With such a massive load of waist-high, fast-drying grass cover in this rugged terrain, I could hear and feel the concern of these men and women as they prepared for a new fire season.

I think the last thing I expected high in that range of hills was to come across a pond of running water – not one, but a number.

We only got to have this unique experience because we trusted the drivers and kept our eyes open and our senses aware throughout the trip.

Jesus tells us in John 4:14 in the Bible “whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life”.

Jesus is offering a gift of what the Bible calls the Holy Spirit, which can work in your life in unexpected ways.

This spirit can work in your life to help bring and grow faith in Jesus – Jesus, who also says “I have come so they (you) can have life, and have it abundantly”.

The track through the hills was rough and rocky, but we did see and experience the unexpected waterholes.

The trip was an adventure.

We were expecting to see some incredible scenery; just not waterholes.

Life can be rough, rocky and hard going, so it is essential to go through it expecting that a God who is all about love will share with you some incredible experiences.

The waterholes were where the track went through a low patch.

So too in life, it can often be in the low patches that we find the unexpected gifts from God of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

These results of the “living water” can affect your life in ways you may never expect, with who knows what amazing results, from which a whole new life may grow and flourish.

Be aware and open for the unexpected.
