Jimmy Barnes will headline Sounds by the River in 2027
The former Cold Chisel front man has been announced at the top of a star-studded Aussie rock lineup for next year’s music festival at Mannum.
Veteran Aussie rocker Jimmy Barnes will headline a typically star-studded lineup at Mannum’s Sounds by the River festival in 2027, the event’s promoters have announced.
Thousands of people are expected to cram Mannum Golf Club on January 7 next year for a big day of live music.
Among the artists getting them up and dancing will be Barnes, the two-time ARIA hall-of-famer with 22 number-one albums under his belt, both as a solo artist and the front man of legendary 80s rock outfit Cold Chisel.
He last headlined the festival in 2024.
Event promoters Face to Face touring announced last Thursday that the 2027 lineup would also include:
- Jon Stevens, the former Noiseworks and INXS front man
- Perth-based alternative rock bands Birds of Tokyo and Eskimo Joe
- 1990s hard rockers Baby Animals
- Renowned live performers Chocolate Starfish
- Sarah McLeod, the former Superjesus front woman and a star in her own right
Gates will open at 12.30pm and the event will run through to about 9.30pm.
As well as the usual local accommodation options, camping will be available at the golf club and Mannum Football Club.
Tickets are on sale now; last year’s event sold out by September.
