Jervois go back-to-back as Lower Murray hard court tennis premiers
Last summer’s champs have defended their title away at Brinkley in 2023.
Jervois are back as premiers of the Lower Murray’s hard court tennis circuit.
The defending champions held onto their title at Brinkley on Friday night with a close-fought victory.
The players in black and red won 20 more games than their opponents, which would have decided things in the end either way.
But Brinkley acquitted themselves well, falling only a single set short of tying things up at six sets apiece.
Jervois manager Lily Miegel congratulated her teammates on their efforts.
“I appreciate the team for supporting a first-year team manager, sticking up for one another and getting around a couple of new players as they came into the team,” she said.
“I’m proud of all of them.”
Perhaps 50 players, spectators and family members stayed long into the bug-strewn night to watch the grand final play out, getting up from deck chairs occasionally to chase down balls hit by accident into the neighbouring paddock.
