Would-be burglar foiled

Meanwhile, Murray Bridge police may have stopped a potential burglary last Thursday by arresting a man who was allegedly ready to commit one.

Officers pulled over a Ford station wagon on Bridge Street just after 1am and allegedly found a wooden Maori baton, a full-face LED beauty mask and a bag containing screwdrivers and torches in the back seat.

They also allegedly found that the 46-year-old driver did not hold a current driver’s licence.

They arrested him and charged him with driving unlicensed and going equipped to commit an offence before releasing him on bail.

The man is due to face court on April 2.

The offence of going equipped to commit a property offence carries a maximum sentence of up to seven years in prison, according to the Legal Services Commission of South Australia.
