Headspace team pushes for better mental health
Headspace Murray Bridge is encouraging everyone to push for better mental health by participating in Australia’s largest mental health and fitness event.

Wednesday has marked the first day the crew at Headspace Murray Bridge are working out for mental health.
Over the next 24 days, the team hopes to complete 3,249 push-ups – or alternative exercises – with the help of the community.
The number represents the amount of lives lost to suicide in Australia in 2022.
The Push-Up Challenge is a free mental health and fitness event focused on pushing for better mental health for all Australians.
Chidera Ejimogu, community engagement officer at Headspace Murray Bridge, said she and her colleagues were rooting for better mental health outcomes, especially since the organisation specialised in youth mental health.
“At the end of the day the most important thing is bringing awareness to suicide,” she said.
There had been cases of suicide in the community which had affected friends, family and the entire community, Ms Ejimogu said.
“People kind of overlook the preventative aspect of it … the more we lean towards prevention the better for everybody,” she said.
How the challenge works
Participants can sign up solo or join the crew at Headspace Murray Bridge.
You can track your daily progress through the Push-Up Challenge app, recording the amount of push-ups you complete each day.
Substitute push-ups with sit-ups, squats or tailored exercises – there is no need to be a professional to participate.
