Police are asking the public for assistance in identifying a man who may be able to help a police investigation relating to a recent incident.

The man was pictured in Murray Bridge on last Wednesday evening, March 26.

Anyone who knows his identity or whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at www.crimestopperssa.com.au, anonymously if needed.

Memorial sundial stolen

Meanwhile, police are investigating the theft of a sundial from the Murray Bridge Uniting Church on Narooma Boulevard earlier this month.

Sometime between 11am on March 20 and 8am on March 23 the sundial was taken.

The sundial is 40 centimetres in diameter, made of brass and was removed from a stone stand/plinth.

It was donated by a local family as a memorial and a place of remembrance for their grandfather.

Drink driver almost five times over the limit

A Murray Bridge driver has allegedly blown almost five times the legal blood alcohol limit on early Sunday morning.

At 1am on Sunday, police stopped a white Mazda on Swanport Road, where the 39-year-old man underwent a breath test.

The test allegedly returned a positive reading of 0.230 and he was reported for alleged drink driving.

His license was disqualified, car taken and he will appear in court at a later date.

Traffic police have also penalised seven other drivers on local roads over the weekend:

  • A 36-year-old Murray Bridge man who got stopped on Wattle Street while allegedly driving while disqualified on Saturday; he lost his vehicle for 28 days and will appear in court
  • A 63-year-old Narrung man was stopped in Tailem Bend on Sunday, with checks allegedly revealing he was driving while suspended and drug paraphernalia allegedly located in the vehicle; he is set to appear in court at a later date
  • A 59-year-old Murray Bridge woman, 37-year-old Mannum man and two 38-year-old Murray Bridge men have all been reported in separate incidents after allegedly returning a positive result for drugs on Sunday; they were all issued with a three-month loss of license and may be summoned to court pending forensic analysis
  • A 30-year-old Murray Bridge man who got stopped on Galway Avenue was reported for allegedly driving while unlicensed on Sunday; he is set to appear in court at a later date

Truck trailers tracked down

Police have recovered a pair of GLT tri-axle tipper trailers which were stolen just outside Mannum on Monday night.

They were found near Calperum on Wednesday.
