Murray Bridge News is bringing business breakfasts back to the Murraylands, starting with an event featuring an ice cream manufacturer in spring 2025.

Golden North managing director Dimi Kyriazis will be the guest speaker at a business breakfast presented by Murray Bridge News next month.

Mr Kyriazis will offer locals a bit more information about the ice cream manufacturing company’s coming move to Murray Bridge, as well as his own business background and efforts to preserve and grow an iconic South Australian brand.

Golden North announced in July that it would move its operations from Laura, in SA’s Mid North, to the factory vacated by Beston Foods late last year.

The move will create about 80 jobs in the Murraylands.

Guests will also get a brief update from the Rural City of Murray Bridge on its own efforts to grow the district’s economy; and from Murray Bridge News managing editor Peri Strathearn on the ways in which the independent local news service can help businesses find new customers.

The breakfast will be held at the Bridgeport Hotel, in Murray Bridge, on October 15.

Attendees will get a cooked meal, tea and coffee.

Anyone will be welcome to attend.

The event will be a first for Murray Bridge News, building on the success of the inaugural Murraylands Business Awards in June.

Mr Strathearn – that’s me – said hosting events like this fit with his mission to be positive about the community and bring people together.

“Local business owners need opportunities to catch up and make the sort of connections that help us all thrive, and with the local business association in a rebuilding phase at the moment, there’s an opportunity for us to meet that need,” I said.

“Having a strong business community is good for businesses of all sizes.

“Making ourselves useful to that business community, without which we wouldn’t exist, makes sense for Murray Bridge News.”
