SHINE SA is excited to share that we’re offering a free sexual and reproductive health training day in Murray Bridge on March 19!

SHINE SA provides comprehensive and integrated sexual and reproductive health services and programs in South Australia.

With support from Country SA PHN, SHINE SA aims to build workforce capacity in regional and rural South Australia.

A 2024 report from SHINE SA and funded by Country SA PHN, Improving Regional Access to Sexual and Reproductive Health, showed us that in South Australia, “there is inequitable access to sexual health services, which includes people living in regional areas”.

Building workforce capacity in the region will support improved access to quality sexual and reproductive healthcare for people living in regional and rural SA.

Developed by experienced educators, doctors, nurses and midwives, this training opportunity invites primary healthcare workers in Murray Bridge and across the Mallee, Riverland and Coorong area to build their knowledge and skills in a range of sexual and reproductive health topics including STIs and BBVs, early medical abortion (EMA) and contraception.

Participants will have the opportunity to network over a complimentary lunch and to learn more about the SHINE SA resources and information available to them.

Why Murray Bridge?

We’re choosing to facilitate this training in Murray Bridge because it’s one of the fastest-growing areas in South Australia and is set to become our largest regional city.

This means the more health professionals equipped to deliver inclusive sexual and reproductive health services – the better!

Health practitioners from regional South Australia have described similar sessions from SHINE SA as “very informative and educational for different learning styles there was text, photos, videos, case studies” and on early medical abortion, “comprehensive coverage of a relatively new area”.

Travel and accommodation support can be provided to participants attending from surrounding areas.
