Several Country Fire Service volunteers from around the Murraylands are on their way to Western Australia this week to help with bushfires over there.

Flying to Perth and heading up to the Mid West region on Wednesday were:

  • Brenton Menadue and Sam Baldwin, Murray Bridge CFS
  • Dylan Collett, Tailem Bend CFS
  • Robbie Kay, Region Three CFS Operations

They were expected to spend up to a week over there, CFS Chief Officer Brett Loughlin said.

“The South Australian community should be proud of the dedicated service provided by our highly skilled firefighters in supporting our Western Australian neighbours,” he said.

“We are proud to deploy our CFS members to WA to support the community during this challenging period, while remaining prepared to respond to emergencies at home.”

A total of 25 South Australians will respond to the call for help from Western Australia’s Department of Fire and Emergency Services as they battle about 50 fires around the state.
