Teenager saves woman from house fire on Lime Kiln Road, Tailem Bend
A Murray Bridge High School student has been hailed a hero after a fire on Thursday night.
A Murray Bridge High School student has been hailed a hero after helping a woman escape a house fire at Tailem Bend on Thursday night.
Student Sean Williams reportedly pulled the home’s occupant out of the burning building.
Firefighters had been called to the property on Lime Kiln Road after a fire was reported to have started inside around 5.45pm.
They arrived to find the property engulfed by flames.
Six Country Fire Service crews, 24 firefighters, managed to keep the fire from spreading to neighbouring properties, with assistance from SA Police and SA Power Networks.
School principal Ruth Mussger described Sean as a leader in his class and the community.
“He acted with courage and determination and we could not be prouder of his act of bravery,” she said in a school newsletter.
Investigators had yet to determine a cause for the fire on Thursday night.
The damage to the home was estimated at $150,000.
