Fire danger season will start in the Murraylands this Sunday
Restrictions on some activities will apply from November 1, 2026 until April 30, 2027.
Restrictions on fire-lighting and other activities will apply from this Sunday, November 1, as fire danger season begins in the Murraylands.
Burn-offs will not be allowed from that date without a council permit.
Additional restrictions will apply on days which are declared total fire ban days due to hot or windy weather.
SA Country Fire Service spokeswoman Alison May urged all South Australians to prepare their properties for the summer now, and to review their bushfire survival plans.
“It’s important to remember that fires can happen at any time and people need to be bushfire ready,” she said.
“This is the time to be looking around your property and clearing gutters, removing fallen branches and debris, and moving other flammable materials away from your home.
“Include the whole family in your bushfire preparations and ensure the whole family understands what to do in an emergency.
“Something as simple as creating a five-minute bushfire plan on the CFS website can be a great first step in your preparations.”
Dates for the 2026-27 fire danger season have not yet been declared for the Mount Lofty Ranges district, which includes all areas west of the Bremer River at Callington.
In the Murraylands, the fire danger season will end on April 30.
Notable fires last summer included one at Kanmantoo on January 7 and another at Mobilong on March 10.
