The inaugural Mypolonga Photography Competition has officially ended, with final award winners being named and given awards at the Mypolonga Primary School at a special assembly on Friday.

Competition founder Kate deRavin thanked the entrants and supporters, and Murray Bridge mayor Wayne Thorley presented certificates to the children involved in the competition.

Mayor Thorley wore a good-behaviour peg at the presentation, but he was quick to point out that it was for Mypolonga Primary student Gibson’s good behaviour, not the mayor’s.

The Mypolonga Primary students were polite as usual and clapped and congratulated each other when the award winners were named.

Ms Kate deRavin was pleased with how the first competition went.

“I’m very happy,” she said.

“Hopefully, there’ll be some budding photographers in the group.”

Mypolonga Primary School principal Sunyl Vogt, who wore a whole necklace of students’ good behaviour pegs, praised the competition.

“It’s a great opportunity for the kids to participate in an activity outside of the regular curriculum and stretches their thinking and imagination,” he said.

Photographs from the competition are currently on display at Murray Bridge Library.
