You’ll also get a chance to put your questions to them in person at a candidates’ forum to be hosted by Murray Bridge News in the week or so leading up to the election – we’ll confirm a date as soon as possible.

History favours our Liberal MP

Liberal MP Tony Pasin is likely to be re-elected for a fourth term as our representative in Canberra.

Barker has been held by the Liberal Party and its predecessors without interruption since its creation in 1903.

The party won 58 per cent of locals’ first-preference votes in 2019.

Still, we can hope that the issues raised in our citizens’ agenda will influence our MP’s priorities in parliament over the next three or four years.

The Labor Party has not yet named a candidate at this election, though the Greens and United Australia have chosen Meningie artist Rosa Hillam and South East businessman David Swiggs, respectively.

Murray Bridge News will bring you more information about each of the candidates over the next fortnight.
