After a two-year break due to COVID restrictions, the highly popular Karoonda Farm Fair and Show will be back on March 31 and April 1.

The annual two-day event showcases local, state and interstate farming, along with general interest products, services and events.

The Karoonda Farm Fair and Show has been going for over 35 years and attracts to the Murraylands town over 5000 visitors and 250 exhibitors each year.

The president of the Karoonda Farm Fair and Show, Robin Hood, stressed that the community has ownership over the event.

“Any profit goes back into the community as much as we can where we can,” he said.

The main focus of the vibrant event is primary industry, machinery and services, but there’s also plenty of general interest products and entertainment to check out.

This year’s event will include some convenient innovations.

“Cash or card is still accepted at the gate, but we also have online ticketing this year, so you don’t have to line up; we have exhibitor bookings online; and we have some new exhibitors,” Mr Hood said.

“Murray Zircon is a new mining identity in the area, and they’ve got a stall, and the normal machinery dealers are coming and showing their machines.”

In addition, the bustling lifestyle pavilion will house an extensive range of products, such as clothing, cosmetics, homewares and technology, as well as representatives from government departments and health and financial services.

The majority of this year’s show competitions will be located in the centre of the lifestyle pavilion.

This year’s Karoonda Farm Fair and Show also boasts an exciting entertainment program, with pure-country contests such as the Karoonda yard dog championships and the shearing and wool handling competition, as well as comedy, fashion parades, kid’s activities and more.

If you’re so inclined, you can enter or just view numerous competitions, ranging from art, Lego, scones, pot plants, vegetables and needlework to scarecrows, the biggest pumpkin and so on.

In other words, the Karoonda Farm and Show has something for everyone – this year, there’s no excuse not to go!
