A fundraising auction organised by a Murray Bridge agricultural supplier has raised more than $27,000 to help people in need of mental health support.

About 140 people put on their glad rags and came along to the Bridgeport Hotel on Friday night for the Elders auction in aid of Beyond Blue.

Prizes ranged from vouchers, chocolates and bottles of wine to ag supplies and even a 22,500-litre water tank.

By the end of the night, bidders were able to help the event’s organisers – Elders’ Stephanie Ziersch and Georgie Inkley – to breeze past their $16,000 fundraising target.

“It was a good effort,” Ms Ziersch said.

“Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and we raised some money, so that was even better.”

Elders had previously organised a similar auction at the Bend Motorsport Park in 2019.

Staff at the company’s Murray Bridge branch had planned to host one every three years or so, but COVID intervened.

Beyond Blue was chosen to receive the funds because of a pre-existing relationship with Elders at a national level, and because of the support the organisation provided to farmers and rural residents when times were tough.
