Eight-week-old baby safe, man charged after police chase at Bowhill
The child was unharmed despite being taken for a wild ride on Monday morning.
A baby has been rescued from a man who led police on a car chase at Bowhill this morning.
The local man took off with the eight-week-old after a reported domestic disturbance at 8.30 on Monday morning.
Police located the man’s car on Gribble Bore Road, but he refused to stop and sped out of sight.
A helicopter was brought in and followed the car down Lowan Road and around a corner onto a dirt track, where it was stopped after allegedly colliding with a police car.
The man was arrested without further incident.
He was later charged with two counts of assault, two of threatening to kill or endanger someone’s life, dangerous driving and drink driving, for allegedly having a blood alcohol content of 0.154 at the time of his arrest.
He was due to face Murray Bridge Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
The baby was not hurt in the episode.
