Driver caught doing 142 in an 80 zone in Murray Bridge

Police have reported three drivers for behaving badly on local roads over the weekend, including a hoon allegedly caught at 62 kilometres per hour over the speed limit.

A speed camera allegedly recorded a Mitsubishi Lancer doing 142km/h in an 80 zone in Murray Bridge just after midnight on Monday.

Officers tracked down its driver, a 28-year-old local man, and reported him for driving at a dangerous speed.

They would have suspended his drivers’ licence, but they found it had already been suspended, so they tacked on extra 12-month ban and took his car away for 28 days.

Also in trouble over the weekend were two alleged drink drivers:

• A 27-year-old Murray Bridge man in a Holden ute who allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.16, three times the legal limit, in a breath test on East Terrace on Friday; he was disqualified from driving for 12 months
• A 23-year-old Murray Bridge man in a Suzuki sedan who allegedly blew 0.146 on Alma Avenue on Saturday, while driving on L plates; he lost his licence for six months
