Top prize-winner in L2P Murraylands’ raffle draw found at last
Coordinator Peter Sawley had struggled to contact the winner of a ukulele until he reached out to Murray Bridge News.
The search for the winner of a raffle organised by a Murray Bridge community group is over at last.
L2P Murraylands is a volunteer program which helps learner drivers who could not otherwise afford it get driving lessons and earn their P-plates.
The organisation held a fundraising raffle shortly before Christmas, and managed to raise $1440 by selling 400 tickets.
The winners were drawn at the Murray Bridge office of Johnston Withers Lawyers on December 17:
- First prize, a ukulele made by local luthier Bob Martin: David Biddle
- Second prize, a pillion motorbike ride for two courtesy of the Longriders Christian Motorcycle Club: Chris Aspell
- Third prize, a V8 hot lap: Jo Heward
- Fourth prize, a Drakes voucher: Marg Gibbons
- Fifth prize, a Bunnings voucher: Ron Pink
Raffle organiser Peter Sawley said on Tuesday he had so far been unable to contact Mr Biddle about his win.
However, after Murray Bridge News published an earlier version of this story, a reader phoned with a tip-off that helped Mr Sawley get in touch with the lucky winner.
A re-draw would have been needed if the ukulele had gone unclaimed.
Several drivers have already completed the L2P program, and Mr Sawley hoped another dozen would be able to do so this year.
