Dangerous driver leads police from Adelaide to Wellington East

Police have arrested a man who allegedly led them on a freeway chase from Adelaide all the way to Wellington East.

Officers attempted to stop a Holden Colorado ute on Queens Lane, Glen Osmond around 5pm on Friday after a check revealed the registered owner had been disqualified from driving.

The driver allegedly failed to stop.

Police did not give chase, but observed the vehicle from a distance as it zoomed up the South Eastern Freeway, erratically and allegedly at speeds of more than 150 kilometres per hour.

About an hour later, they finally made an attempt to stop it on the Princes Highway at Wellington East.

The driver attempted to turn off onto a dirt road, but missed the turn and ended up stopped on the verge, where he was arrested without incident.

Officers charged the 28-year-old North Haven man with driving while disqualified, driving at a dangerous speed and failing to stop for police.

He was granted bail ahead of an appearance at Adelaide Magistrates’ Court, but had his ute impounded for 28 days.
