That was the message brought to Murray Bridge by an R U OK convoy which visited earlier this month.

A few dozen folks gathered at Pine Park for a free barbecue and giveaways by local service providers including Headspace, Skylight and Standby.

R U OK’s Charlie Willbridge hoped the day would help strengthen connections between community members and the locals who were available to help them.

Mental health was too important to ignore, Murray Bridge Mayor Wayne Thorley suggested.

“None of us is immune to life’s ups and downs,” he said.

“It’s okay to ask, ‘Are you okay?’

“We shouldn’t be ashamed to have a conversation about how we’re feeling.”

The R U OK Conversation Convoy’s visit came as part of a 39-stop tour of South Australia throughout September and October.

The convoy also made a stop at the Bend Motorsport Park for the recent Supercars race.

R U OK is a charity which aims to inspire and empower people to connect with friends, relatives and colleagues who might be having a hard time.
