Citizens’ agenda: Housing tops locals’ list of demands for our next federal MP
We asked you to have your say about the issues most important to you in Barker at the 2022 federal election. Here's what you told us.

Housing is far and away the biggest issue at this year’s federal election, a Murray Bridge News survey has suggested.
Of the 80 people who completed the survey by Friday evening, almost half listed housing as one of the issues that would decide their vote.
It got 50 per cent more mentions than any other issue.
“It is almost impossible to get a fairly-priced rental,” one respondent said.
“There are families living in their cars or tents,” noted another.
Other top issues included climate change, health services, aged care, public transport and the government's COVID-19 response.
A little behind them were the cost of living and mental health.
Also: bless the person who listed “bring Barnacle Bill to the Bridge” as their second-most-important federal election issue.

Murray Bridge News has compiled all 80 survey responses into a “citizens’ agenda”.
Think of it as a to-do list for Liberal MP Tony Pasin or whoever succeeds him in parliament.

Over the next three weeks, Murray Bridge News will ask each of the candidates what they would do to address three of the top issues identified by readers.
You’ll then get your chance to put your questions to the candidates in person at a public forum in Murray Bridge, on a date and at a venue yet to be confirmed.
It’s not too late to have your say, either.
The survey will remain open until May 18, and Murray Bridge news will update the citizens’ agenda each week as new answers are added.
