Get into the holiday spirit and be in the running for a $200 voucher at this year's Murray Bridge Christmas lights competition.

The annual competition will shine the light on gorgeous festive displays around the city.

Entrants will have the chance to win a voucher which can be spent in any business within the Murray Bridge council area.

You can nominate your own display or any others that fill you with seasonal cheer in one of five categories for home and business owners.

The competition is open to all light displays at properties within the Murray Bridge district, with one nomination per individual or group per category.

Judges will consider the following when selecting one winning entry per category:

  • Presentation: Overall appearance, layout, and design
  • Light: Creative use of colour, form, and composition
  • Creativity: Innovation and passion behind the display
  • Christmas spirit: Reflection of the holiday season
  • Wow factor: The ultimate wow-worthy impact

Remember to include a photo and/or video of the display to accompany your nomination.

Mayor Wayne Thorley shared his enthusiasm for the competition.

"Christmas is a time to unwind, connect with loved ones, and celebrate the magic of the season," he said.

"I can’t wait to see the dazzling displays that light up our community and bring smiles to so many faces."

Nominations will close on December 10, with judging in the following days.

Category winners will be announced on December 18.
