Christmas gift-giving program will help local families in need
Hundreds of gifts have been donated to the Salvation Army in time for Christmas Day, thanks to the Barker Christmas gift giving program.
Hundreds of gifts have been donated to Murray Bridge's Salvation Army to help local families in need, just in time for Christmas Day.
The generous donation was part of the Barker Christmas Gift Giving Program run by federal member for Barker, Tony Pasin MP.
Now in it's second year, the program invited residents, businesses and community groups to donate new, unwrapped gifts.
The gifts are then formally handed over to Salvation Army Corps Leader Adrian Hamond for distribution to local families in the region.
Mr Pasin thanked the Murraylands for their generosity and once again demonstrating the strength and compassion of the region.
“The generosity shown by the people of the Murraylands reflects the heart of our community.
“It was a privilege to collect and deliver these gifts on behalf of local residents, businesses and community groups.
"These donations will make a real difference to families who are doing it tough, and I want to sincerely thank everyone who contributed.”

Mr Hamond expressed appreciation for the continued community support and for Mr Pasin’s involvement in the program.
“Demand for assistance remains high across the Murraylands, particularly at this time of year,” Mr Hamond said.
“These gifts will bring hope and happiness to local families on Christmas Day," he said.
Mr Pasin acknowledged the role of the Salvation Army and volunteers who assisted with the collection and organisation of the donated gifts.
“To every donor, and to the Salvation Army team - thank you for helping spread joy at Christmas.”
