Car, train collide at Mannum Road railway crossing
Traffic was diverted around an accident scene in Murray Bridge on Friday.

An elderly man is recovering in hospital after his ute collided with a train in Murray Bridge on Friday.
The Mannum Road railway crossing was expected to be closed for several hours after the collision, which happened around 12.30pm.
An eyewitness told Murray Bridge News the ute and the train had both entered the level crossing at the same time.
The train’s engine struck the front passenger-side corner of the ute, which spun around and ended up on its side.
The train’s driver immediately applied the brakes and came to a halt, blocking the level crossing.

The ute’s driver did not receive life-threatening injuries, according to SA Police, but was taken away by ambulance and transferred to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
The main road and train line were both expected to be closed for the afternoon while investigators checked out the scene.
However, the Cypress Terrace railway crossing remained open.
