Brenton Lewis OAM has made Murray Bridge proud, safe and progressive
The former mayor has been recognised on the King’s Birthday honours list for 2023.

Murray Bridge is a different place as a result of Brenton Lewis’ leadership – and in return he has been recognised with an Order of Australia Medal.
Mr Lewis transformed Murray Bridge’s image during his two terms as mayor, from 2014 to 2022.
Prior to that he was chief executive of Regional Development Australia Murraylands and Riverland, the former regional development board.
He is a life member of Murray Bridge Racing Club and the former Murray Bridge Trotting Club; and has filled many roles with the Rotary Club of Murray Bridge since joining in 1978, including as its president in 1996-97.

He has also contributed volunteer service to more than a dozen other community organisations, including Friendship Force and the Murraylands Retirement Village.
Mr Lewis was quick to deflect any praise for the King’s Birthday honour, saying he was sure it was someone else’s turn to take the spotlight.
“I wasn’t expecting to be lined up for any award,” Mr Lewis said.
“It was a welcome surprise.”
Mr Lewis had already been named Murray Bridge’s current citizen of the year in January.
