A new tree has been painted blue in Murray Bridge, making it the third tree in the area to undergo the eye-catching transformation.

The Blue Tree project is part of a nationwide symbol of hope, inspired by Jayden Whyte, who tragically lost his life to suicide in 2018.

The new blue tree is located along the river at Avoca Dell Reserve, a popular walking area.

Murray Bridge locals and visitors to the caravan park will have no worries sparking conversations about the new blue addition.

Mayor Wayne Thorley said the blue tree message can be difficult for many people.

"I'd like to thank the council team who have worked hard to bring this project to life."

"We recognise the importance of mental and physical wellbeing and continue to support this vital work in our community."

Although the tree was already full of blue, attendees were able to add more and include their own personal contribution.

The tree's location was bought to council's attention by Suzanne Morris in April.

"Mental health is everywhere, all the time," she said.

Ms Morris who lives across the road, said the tree has already created conversations and interest between the permanent residents.

"I was looking at the tree and thought it seemed a bit sad, so this is a great way to spark conversations and get people interested," she said.

The Murray Bridge Well Being Hub and Community Centre provided the paint for the tree.

Project partners included the Murray Bridge suicide prevention network, Silent Ripples, wellbeing hub, community centre and the Mobilong Rotary Club.
