Beware of diesel theft in the Murraylands and Mallee, police warn
Plus a Murray Bridge man is arrested for growing cannabis and police prepare to deploy speed cameras around the region.
Diesel theft is on the rise around the Murraylands and Mallee at the moment, SA Police warn.
Properties at Mypolonga and Wynarka were targeted by fuel thieves last Monday and Tuesday.
Diesel had previously been reported stolen from farms at Karoonda and Walker Flat back in January.
Police are not sure if the thefts are linked.
However, they warned anyone with diesel or petrol stored on their properties to take steps to secure it:
Position fuel tanks and trailers in sight of the house and away from roads
- Install security lighting and/or a lockable fence
- Monitor and recording fuel levels daily
- Lock fuel dispensers and caps when not in use
- Fill mobile tanks only when they are needed
An investigation into the recent thefts is continuing.

Murray Bridge man arrested after cannabis find
Meanwhile, a Murray Bridge man has been arrested after police allegedly found two mature cannabis plants in his backyard.
The 42-year-old man will face a cultivation charge in court.
The arrest was made after a tip-off from a member of the public.
Watch out for speed cameras
Finally, traffic police will be out and about in the Murraylands this week.
Locations they plan to monitor include:
- Monarto South: Old Princes Highway, South Eastern Freeway
- Murray Bridge: Adelaide, Mannum, Maurice, Mulgundawah and Swanport Roads
- Tailem Bend: Dukes Highway, Granites Road, Princes Highway
They will also be active further down the Dukes Highway and on several roads at Mannum.
