Australia Day award nominations are due in the Coorong district

Do you know someone who makes your community a better place?

If you’re in the Coorong district, you have until the end of this week to nominate them for an Australia Day award.

Nominations will close at 5pm this Friday for the 2024 awards, which will feature four categories:

  • Citizen of the year
  • Young citizen of the year
  • Community event of the year
  • Community project of the year

Recent Tailem Bend citizens of the year have included serial volunteer Brian Lloyd, generous draftsman Michael Holliday and historian Angie Tomkinson.

The local history group also won the event of the year award in 2022 for an exhibition about the town’s colonial past.

Who should be recognised next?

Contributions and service may have been in areas including education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary services, business, sport, the arts, the environment, or any other area that contributes to your community’s advancement and wellbeing.
