Ag town of the year 2021: Murray Bridge, Tailem Bend, Mypolonga nominated
Will a Murraylands town knock off Pinnaroo as South Australia's premier agricultural centre?

Could Tailem Bend be South Australia’s agricultural town of the year?
How about Murray Bridge, or Mypolonga?
They’re all among the 59 towns nominated for this year’s annual award, a state government initiative which highlights agriculture’s importance.
The winning town will get a celebratory event, a winner’s sign to put at a town entrance, and a certificate and trophy from Primary Industries and Regional Development Minister David Basham.
Who would you pick?
- Murray Bridge: “a bustling rural town”, a regional centre, tourism drawcard and important river crossing?
- Tailem Bend: a town whose “major industries” include pigs, dairy cattle, grain, hay, olives and motor sport?
- Mypolonga: “home to a number of thriving businesses” and community organisations which have helped it innovate and grow beyond its horticultural and dairying roots?
- Karoonda, Langhorne Creek, Meningie, Strathalbyn or another nominated town?
Mr Basham said SA’s regions were worth about $29 billion per year to the state economy.
“Food from South Australia appears on tables across the country and world,” he said.
“I’m encouraging everyone to visit the website, take a look at what these wonderful communities have to offer, and cast a vote.”
This year’s winner will be announced in November.
