Ag dealer will move into former newspaper office

Agricultural machinery dealer Emmetts is the business which has bought the former newspaper printing facility on Adelaide Road, Murray Bridge News can reveal.
The national chain plans to open a massive John Deere dealership and servicing centre in the two warehouses formerly occupied by The Murray Valley Standard.
The site is more than three times bigger than Emmetts’ current dealership at the corner of Jose and Cornwall Streets.
Murray Bridge News has sought comment from Emmetts.
The previous owners of the site, Australian Community Media, announced its closure last July, bringing an end to 89 years of newspaper printing in Murray Bridge.
The local newspaper is now printed by longtime rivals News Corp in Adelaide.
The property was sold via an Adelaide-based real estate agent for $2.1 million, according to real estate website Real Commercial.

Because Emmetts’ plans call for the site to be used for a new purpose, and for some signage to be put up, the Murray Bridge council is seeking public feedback.
Any such feedback will be considered by the council’s assessment panel when it decides whether to approve the development.
