‘Adventure around every bend’: Murray Bridge shortlisted among SA’s top tourism towns

Murray Bridge has been shortlisted as one of the top tourism towns in South Australia – and you can help it take out the prize.

A public vote will decide who wins the Tourism Industry Council of SA’s top tourism towns awards for 2022.

One lucky voter will even win a weekend away at one of 12 caravan parks around the state, valued at $500.

Why did Murray Bridge deserve to win?

There was adventure around every bend, Mayor Brenton Lewis said.

You could kayak on the River Murray, mountain bike through Kinchina Conservation Park, feed a lion at Monarto, stargaze at Cambrai and ride in a race car at the Bend Motorsport Park.

“We’ve always known what a fantastic place this is, and now the rest of the world is learning about it, too,” Mr Lewis said.

“The key to any great weekend getaway is to spend less time driving and more time doing.

“This makes Murray Bridge a top contender … there is something here for everyone.”

Langhorne Creek is also a finalist in the “tiny town” category.

Its entry spruiked its world-class wines, cellar doors and tasting experiences: “enjoy a glass of wine on a rooftop, jump out of a plane or take a horse-drawn carriage ride around the wineries”.

The other contenders in Murray Bridge’s category are Aldinga, Gawler, Hahndorf, McLaren Vale, Port Adelaide, Renmark and Tanunda.
